Nutrition Intervention and Logic Model Assignment
NFSC 431: Foodservice Equipment and Production Systems
Skill Area: Community Nutrition/Nutrition Education
Assignment Title: Promoting a Healthy Body Image in Young Teen Girls
What I learned: I learned how to create a complete outline for a nutrition intervention program, program planning and how to evaluate the effectiveness of the program.
Reflection to assignment: This assignment was a multifaceted project. I had to determine a problem in my community, and then determine how to address that problem and how to evaluate if the program was effective. Negative body image is a problem that many young girls face. I decided that I would like to help combat this problem at a local school. This project allowed me to consider all aspects of the project, from who would be involved, to how would it is funded and to how effectiveness would be determined. I hope to be able to implement this program or a similar one in the future.
Relevance to the profession: This project is relevant to the profession, because nutritionists are often called upon to create nutrition related programs in their communities. Logic models can be used in many different situations, from small programs to large organizations and businesses.
